ORIENT, PA
The Orient Coke Co. constructed the coal mine, coke works, and patch town at Orient in the first decade of the 20th Century. Only a handful of patch houses remain, including these, a familiar site
to those who fish at Paradise Lake.
However there are several remnants of the Orient coal mine.
These tipple ruins are probably the bottom of the head frame.
Detail of the tipple ruins.
A cut stone shop building.
Foundations that probably supported a trolley track from the tipple to the gob pile, portions of which still exist.
Coke oven ruins behind the Madonna of Czestochowa Catholic Church.
